If you’ve been out clubbing during the past few decades, chances are that you’ve been on a dancefloor with a big smile on your face singing along to the lyrics coming out of the speakers: “Ey, ey, wadey, …”. Even if you had no idea which tune it was, one thing is certain: this tune is captivating. The name of the tune is “Walk and Skank” (Blacker Dread, 1984) and like a classic Studio1 riddim it keeps coming back every couple of years. Slipmatt and Lime aka SL2 turned it into a massive rave anthem, the Serial Killaz did a drum & bass remix and Adam Prescott did a dubstep version featuring Dynamite MC.
